ISV: Okta Integration Network Submission Tester Displays Infinite Spin During Initialization

API Access Management
Okta Identity Engine

Overview

When using the Okta Integration Network (OIN) Submission Tester within a new Integrator Free Plan organization, the OIN Submission Tester fails to initialize and displays an infinite spinning icon. This issue occurs because the Okta Browser Plugin requires explicit approval or fails to retrieve a token due to a corrupted browser cache. Approving the plugin permissions or clearing the browser cache resolves the initialization failure.

Applies To

  • Okta Integration Network (OIN)
  • OIN Submission Tester
  • Independent Software Vendor (ISV)
  • Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
  • Okta Browser Plugin

Cause

The Okta Browser Plugin requires explicit approval before operating correctly. If this approval remains pending, the OIN Submission Tester cannot initialize. Additionally, the OIN Submission Tester fails to acquire a necessary security token when the browser cache and storage become corrupted or outdated.

Solution

How is the infinite spin issue resolved?

To resolve the infinite spin issue, try the following workarounds.

Check for Plugin Approvals

Check for browser notifications and accept the permissions request to allow the Okta Browser Plugin to run.

  1. Look for notifications or prompts from the browser regarding the Okta Browser Plugin.
  2. Accept the permissions request to allow the plugin to run.
  3. Pin the extension to the browser toolbar to ensure notifications remain visible.

Log Out, Clear Browser Data, and Restart

Clear the browser cache and site data to resolve token retrieval failures and reinstall the plugin if the issue persists.

  1. Sign out of the Okta organization.
  2. Navigate to the following location in the Google Chrome browser:
    chrome://settings/clearBrowserData
  1. Select Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files.
  2. Choose Clear data.
  3. Close all browser windows completely.
  4. Open the browser and sign back into the Okta organization.
  5. Initialize the OIN Submission Tester.
  6. Reinstall the Okta Browser Plugin if the infinite spin persists.
