When using the Okta Integration Network (OIN) Submission Tester within a new Integrator Free Plan org, the tool may fail to initialize. Instead, it displays an infinite spinning icon, which prevents the user from proceeding with their OIN submission testing.
- Okta Integration Network (OIN)
- OIN Submission Tester
- Independent Software Vendor (ISV)
- Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
- Okta Browser Plugin
This issue can stem from two primary causes:
- Pending Plugin Approval
The Okta Browser Plugin, which is required for the OIN Submission Tester to function, may require explicit approval before it can operate correctly. If this approval is pending, the tester cannot initialize.
- Token Retrieval Failure
The OIN Submission Tester may fail to acquire a necessary security token. This can be caused by a corrupted or outdated browser cache and storage, preventing the Okta Browser Plugin from functioning as expected.
To resolve the infinite spin issue, try the following workarounds:
- Check for Plugin Approvals:
- Look for any notifications or prompts from the browser, specifically related to the Okta Browser Plugin.
- If prompted, accept the permissions request to allow the plugin to run. The OIN Submission Tester requires the Okta Browser Plugin to be installed and trusted. Pinning the extension to the browser toolbar can help bring these notifications to the surface.
- Log Out, Clear Browser Data, and Restart:
- If there are no pending plugin approvals, the issue might be related to token retrieval.
- Clear the Google Chrome browser's cache and site data.
- Log out of the Okta organization.
- Navigate to chrome://settings/clearBrowserData.
- Select Cookies and other site data, and Cached images and files.
- Click Clear data.
- Completely close all browser windows.
- Reopen the browser.
- Log back into the Okta organization.
- Try initializing the OIN Submission Tester again.
- If the issue still persists, try reinstalling the Okta Browser Plugin.
