How to Change the Activation Email Link Expiration Period Found on 'Welcome to Okta' New User Activation Email

Overview

When a new Okta user account is created with the user activation flow initiated, the new Okta user will receive a "Welcome to Okta" new user activation email, which includes a user account activation link that is valid for 7 days by default. This article will describe how an Okta Super Administrator role user can manage the activation link expiration period.

Solution

An Okta Super Administrator user can change the Activation Email expiration period by following the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the Okta Admin Console.
  2. Click on Security.
  3. Click on General from this menu.
  4. Scroll down to the Organization Security section.
  5. Click the Edit button and apply the desired changes for Activation Emails are valid for which is set to 7 days by default.Organization Security Configuration  


NOTE: This is an organization-wide security setting that will apply to all Okta new users' welcome emails company-wide rather than to a dedicated group of new Okta users.
