Overview

This article describes a scenario where adding an Okta Access Gateway (OAG) worker node fails. The issue occurs after the key is pasted, and the following error message is displayed:

 

Failure RC=56

Worker Node Failure RC=56   

Applies To
  • Okta Access Gateway (OAG) versions 2025.3 and above
  • Configure High Availability(HA)
Cause

Starting versions 2025.3, the worker node will look for the specific hostname ha-admin.service.oag on the admin to configure HA. This issue can be seen on environments where a proxy is used, and the host ha-admin.service.oag has not been added in the bypass list. Reference documentation.

Solution

Follow the steps the Set the proxy for Access Gateway documentation and modify the proxy settings on the node to be added as a worker to bypass ha-admin.service.oag
