This article explains how Okta Verify validates FaceID or TouchID on iOS and macOS devices and if Okta stores any biometrics information.
- Okta Verify
- Fastpass
- Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Okta Verify does not collect or store biometric data itself.
- Okta Verify integrates with a device's biometric authentication capabilities, such as fingerprint or facial recognition, for added security.
- Okta Verify can prompt the device to confirm a user's identity through biometrics, but the biometric data is stored and managed by the device's operating system, not Okta Verify.
When using biometrics to authenticate with Okta Verify, Okta only receives a "yes" or "no" confirmation from the device that authentication was successful without direct access to the biometric data itself.
