Okta Dropbox Business Provisioning Error Unable to Update Existing User

Overview
A Dropbox Business provisioning error occurs when Okta attempts to create a user that already exists in the application. Resolve this issue by verifying the user in Dropbox, resolving any conflicts, and then retrying the provisioning task in the Okta Admin Console. The Dropbox Business provisioning flow fails with the following error visible in the Okta dashboard:
Push new user to external application FAILURE: Unable to update existing user

Cause
This error occurs because Okta attempts to create a user with the specified username but encounters a conflict from the Dropbox application because the user already exists on the application side.
Solution
How is the Dropbox Business provisioning error resolved?
Verify the user in Dropbox, resolve the conflict, and retry the provisioning task in the Okta Admin Console.
- Check if any existing user in Dropbox already has the specified username. If needed, contact Dropbox Support to confirm whether the conflict is legitimate and assist in implementing a resolution.
- After resolving the user conflict on the Dropbox side, navigate to Dashboard, and then select Tasks in the Okta Admin Console.
- Identify the failed task for the user that requires a retry, and then select Retry Selected.
