Inconsistent Custom Attribute Behavior
Last Updated:
Overview
This article addresses the behavior of custom attributes sourced from different locations that may appear inconsistent.
In a multi-source environment, a custom attribute (for example, UniversalIDString) has been created in the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP). The source priority for this attribute is set to Override profile source, meaning that for any other users not sourced from the selected LDAP, the attribute should inherit from Okta and be editable on all user profiles (except those sourced from that LDAP).
Applies To
- Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)
- Active Directory (AD)
- Provisioning
- Profile Source
Cause
When multiple sources are involved, the behavior of attribute values depends on the Source priority order and whether users are assigned to those sources.
Solution
To resolve the issue, ensure that the priority order is correct or remove the conflicting source from the user.
