Profile Property in Okta Managed Template has Conflicts with Custom Property Attribute
Last Updated:
Overview
The following error can occur when there is a mismatch or inconsistency between predefined templates and user-defined custom properties within a system or application. Custom properties are unique attributes or values that users can define to tailor the behavior or appearance of elements in a template or framework.
Profile property in Okta managed template has conflicts with custom property.
Applies To
- Custom SCIM Template app
- SCIM
- Provisioning
- Okta Integration Network (OIN) Applications
Cause
- Admin has already added an attribute in the SCIM profile which is conflicting with a pre-existing attribute in the default SCIM Template Schema.
- Okta Integration Network (OIN) applications that previously were not using SCIM provisioning already have attributes that conflict.
- For the SCIM Template App in OIN, the admin may receive a 500 Internal Server Error
Solution
The solution is to delete the attributes already created from the Application Profile Template and reauthenticate the API for provisioning.
- From the Okta Admin Console > Profile Editor > Custom SCIM App.
- Click on the X button to remove the attribute.
- Go back to the Provisioning Tab on the SCIM application and retry the API authentication.
