This article clarifies how to hide an application from most users while allowing only a few selected users to view the application tile on the End User Dashboard.
- End-User Dashboard
App visibility is a global setting that changes visibility for all users.
To allow only specific users to view the application tile, the application needs to be hidden from all users, and then the App Embed link must be used within a bookmark application that is assigned selectively to the users who need access.
Hide Application
- Log in to the Admin console.
- Navigate to Applications > Applications.
- Select the App.
- Click the General tab.
- Scroll to the App Embed Link at the bottom of the page.
- Copy the Embed Link.
- Next to Application visibility, check the checkbox next to Do not display application icon to users.
- Click Save.
Create Bookmark App
- Navigate to Applications > Applications > Browse App Catalog.
- Search for the Bookmark App.
- Add the integration and paste the App Embed Link from the previous app into the URL field.
- Provide an appropriate name for the app.
- Assign this Bookmark app to anyone who needs access to it.
- The Bookmark App will now link to the app that is hidden for all users, while selective users can click the tile within their Okta Dashboard.
