This article addresses the scenario where an Okta admin receives email notifications after opting out of particular Okta Communication alerts and provides a possible solution.

If another Okta admin account is set up to receive Okta communications, and the email address associated with that account is a distribution list that includes the affected admin (or forwards messages to a distribution list that does), then the affected admin will still receive Okta communications.
To prevent the affected admin from receiving Okta communication emails, the admin with the Distribution List as an email must also opt out of the same Okta communication emails.
- Identify which admin account has the Distribution Email list associated with the Okta admin account:
- Log in to the Okta portal as a super admin and click Admin.
- Go to the Security > Administrators.
- View the admin account with the email that has the distribution list.
- Click the pencil to view the emails that are associated with the account.
- Identify the admin account that has the distribution list.
- Log in as the admin with the distribution list account associated with the email.
- Navigate to Settings > Accounts.
- In the section Admin Email Notifications > click Edit > uncheck the desired boxes.
- When finished, click Save.
Alternately, remove the Distribution List email address from the admin account, or remove the email forwarding rule that sends to the Distribution List.
NOTE: As of April 10, 2025, the functionality to subscribe to Trust Notification emails from Okta has moved to the Okta Status Page. This means it may be necessary to unsubscribe to email alerts from two locations. New super admins defined for an org are not subscribed to these email notifications by default. Super admins and admins who have been assigned a role that gives them the Case Admin Permission can sign in and subscribe or unsubscribe to these email notifications.
