When Is a Group Push Triggered

Okta Integration Network

Overview

Group Push allows existing Okta groups and their memberships to be pushed to provisioning-enabled, third-party applications. These memberships are then sourced by Okta. Group Push adds groups to third-party apps, but it does not create groups in Okta. Pushed groups are managed from Okta. Changing the group in the target app causes synchronization issues with Okta.

  • Group Push
  • Provisioning

Cause

Solution

There is no timer or scheduler for how often the push group will start. A group push can be triggered by:

  • The manual Push Now option.
Push Now option
  • A change in the membership of the pushed group.
  • The group will also be pushed once the provisioning flow is enabled, assuming it was previously deactivated (this includes newly assigned users if they are already members within the push group).
