Overview
The provisioning flow for the application fails, and the following error appears on the Okta dashboard:
Automatic provisioning of user <username> to app <app name> failed: The credentials used to connect to the API were invalid; please check your configuration

Cause
The credentials used to create the API connection for the application are invalid.
Solution
- In the Admin Console, go to Applications > Applications.
- Select the affected application.
- Go to the Provisioning tab and select Integration.
- Click Edit.
- Select Re-authenticate with <app name>.
- Sign in to the application as an administrator.
- A message confirms the successful authentication.
- Click Save.
- To retry the failed tasks, go to Dashboard > Tasks. Any failed assignments should appear under Tasks.
- Select the failed task and click Retry Selected.
