Scheduled Imports Run at Different Times Each Import
Directories
Overview
This article provides more information about the behavior of scheduling app or directory imports and explains why the imports do not start at the exact same time each run.
Applies To
  • Imports
  • Applications
  • Directories
Solution
  1. When configuring a Scheduled Import for an Application or Directory, an interval of time is chosen for the frequency of imports.

    • This is the amount of time that will pass after the end of the previous import before the next import begins.

  2. Once the next import is scheduled, Okta will automatically adjust the start time by a random time frame of fewer than 5 minutes.

    • This is to prevent deadlocks from multiple imports starting simultaneously.

Due to the above, the start time of a scheduled import will vary depending on the length of the previous import, and then can be further delayed by up to 5 minutes for performance tuning purposes.

Okta Support can enable a feature that allows Application Imports only to be scheduled at an exact time. Please contact Okta Support and reference this article for more information.
