What is the purpose of the Refresh Application Data feature?
The Refresh Application Data feature in Okta retrieves the latest roles, profiles, and group data from application integrations. Okta uses this data to accurately create new users in those application integrations and streamline the user provisioning process. This function updates various product licenses, attributes, roles, and groups from downstream applications.
- When administrators add new licenses to Microsoft Office 365 or Google, the feature updates the product licenses for these applications.
- When administrators add new attributes to applications like Slack, Google Workspace, ServiceNow, BambooHR, or Workday, the feature updates these attributes.
- When organizational unit (OU) changes occur in applications like Google Workspace or Active Directory, Okta uses the feature to update these changes and ensure Okta assigns users to the correct OUs.
What are the steps to execute the Refresh Application Data function?
Navigate to the Applications page in the Okta Admin Console and select the Refresh Application Data option from the More menu to update the application data./

- Select the More dropdown menu.
- Choose Refresh Application Data.
