Redirect Users to a Specific Page During SAML SSO in Okta

Administrators can redirect users to a specific page during a Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) Single Sign-On (SSO) flow by setting the Default Relay State value in the application settings. This configuration ensures users land on the correct page after authentication. The same link can also function within a bookmark application if required.

How is a user redirected to a specific page during SAML SSO?

NOTE: The Default Relay State configured using the steps below only honors the value for Identity Provider (IdP)-initiated flows. For Service Provider (SP)-related flows, configure the Relay State on the SP side.

Set the Default Relay State value in the application's SAML settings:

1. Access the Okta Admin Console.
2. Click Applications and then click the desired application.
3. Click the Sign On tab.
4. In the Settings pane, click Edit.
5. In the Default Relay State field, enter the desired landing page's URL.
6. Click Save.
