Newly Added Google Workspace Organizational Units Do Not Appear in Okta

Okta Integration Network
Okta Classic Engine
Okta Identity Engine

Overview

Newly added Google Workspace Organizational Units (OUs) do not appear in Okta because changes require a synchronization job to update the application data. Triggering a synchronization job through the Profile Editor, the application provisioning settings, or the global application data refresh resolves the synchronization issue.

Applies To

  • Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
  • Okta Classic Engine
  • Google Workspace
  • Organizational Unit (OU)

Cause

Okta requires a synchronization job to retrieve and reflect changes made in Google Workspace.

Solution

How are newly added Organizational Units synced from Google Workspace to Okta?

Changes made in Google Workspace do not reflect in Okta until a sync job triggers. Trigger a sync job using one of the following methods.

  • Refresh the attribute list within the Profile Editor to synchronize the Google Workspace OUs.
    1. Navigate to Directory > Profile Editor.
    2. Select the <Google Workspace Integration Name>User profile.
    3. Choose Add attribute.
    4. Select Refresh Attribute List.

  • Re-authenticate the Google Workspace integration within the application provisioning settings to trigger a synchronization job.
    1. Navigate to Applications > Applications.
    2. Select the <Google Workspace Integration Name> application.
    3. Go to the Provisioning tab and select Integration.
    4. Choose Edit.
    5. Select Re-Authenticate with Google Workspaces.

  • Refresh the application data globally across the entire Okta organization to update the OUs.
    1. Navigate to Applications > Applications.
    2. Select More.
    3. Choose Refresh Application Data.

NOTE: This method applies to all applications within the Okta organization.
