Getting the whole organization on board
After Okta was initially rolled out, an important question remained: how do we onboard the less tech-savvy users in our organization and ensure they’re getting the best out of Okta?
The team identified Okta Verify and mobile use as areas where the team could benefit from training. To address this gap, they set up a Collaboratech Day of demos led by Okta experts. “Using emails, our internal communications platform, and TV screens around the office, we told our team to drop in with their phones and laptops so they could register Okta and get set up with a variety of applications.”
Along with the corporate communications and HR teams, Dubai Airports saw the importance in involving their own IT staff for support. “When people started downloading the Okta app or Okta Verify, it helped to have a one-to-one interaction with someone,'' says Elzonfoly. “So the whole technology support team was available to answer questions and help fix any technical issues.”
The verdict from the Collaboratech Day was overwhelmingly positive. “The team was totally on board with Okta. Everyone loves the flexibility, and that they’re able to access their files whether they’re at home or on holiday, all without a VPN.”
Making an Okta rollout work for you
The main thing that we can learn from how Dubai Airports managed their rollout is that clear and tailored communication is vital to success.
