Deactivate and Delete Active Directory Integrations

This guide will explain how to deactivate and delete an Active Directory integration in Okta.

Solution

NOTE: Before deactivating a directory in Okta, be sure that:

  • The directory is not set to source Okta users.
  • "Update and Disable" users' options are disabled.
  • Delegated Authentication is disabled.
  • All connected users have Okta passwords.

Before deleting an Active Directory integration, it must first be deactivated. A deactivated directory can be reactivated.

  1. Select Directory Integrations and open the Active Directory integration that needs to be deactivated.

  2. Click the dropdown next to Active at the top of the window and click Deactivate.

    • The directory will now be listed under the Inactive tab of the Directory Integrations page.

  3. Once the directory is inactive, proceed with deleting the directory from Okta. Deleting a directory cannot be undone.
    1. Select the directory in the Inactive list.
    2. Select the dropdown next to Inactive at the top of the window and click Delete.
