How to Configure Provisioning for OAuth ShareFile Integration
Single Sign-On
Okta Integration Network
Okta Classic Engine
Overview
This article provides step-by-step instructions on how to configure OAuth and REST ShareFile Integration with Okta. By following these instructions, one will be able to create an administrator account in ShareFile and generate the necessary API keys. It also covers how to configure the OAuth consumer key and consumer secret, authenticate the ShareFile integration with Okta, and enable ShareFile provisioning.
Applies To
  • Configure OAuth and REST ShareFile Integration with Okta
Cause
Before configuring ShareFile Integration with Okta, an administrator account in ShareFile must be created and the necessary API keys generated. If basic credentials (admin username and password) have not been configured previously, and OAuth credentials have not been set up yet, an invalid API credentials error may be encountered for any provisioning operation.
Solution

To configure OAuth and REST ShareFile Integration with Okta, follow these steps or watch the video:

  1. Create an administrator account in ShareFile:

    • Create an account in ShareFile that will be used to create the OAuth consumer key and consumer secret used in configuring ShareFile provisioning.

  2. Generate API Keys:

    1. Log in to Progress ShareFile with the ShareFile admin account created in the previous step.

    2. Click on Get an API Key.

    3. Click Create New.

    4. Click Generate Api Key. The API Keys will be displayed as a table. Copy the Client Id and Client Secret. They will be used to configure provisioning later.

Generate Api Key

  1. Configure OAuth Consumer Key and Consumer Secret:

    1. Log in as an admin user to the Okta Admin Dashboard, select the Provisioning tab for the ShareFile integration, then under Settings, select Integration.

    2. Enter OAuth Consumer Key (enter the Client ID generated earlier in the requirements section) and OAuth Consumer Secret (enter the Client Secret generated earlier in the requirements section).

OAuth Consumer Key

  1. Authenticate ShareFile integration with Okta:

    1. Click Authenticate with ShareFile. This will open a new window at https://secure.sharefile.com

    2. Enter account's subdomain, click Continue, then enter the ShareFile administrator Username and Password that was used to create the OAuth Key.

ShareFile login

  1. ShareFile integration is now authenticated for provisioning! NOTE: Push Profile Update is supported only for the First Name and Last Name fields.
