Build Your Okta Community Profile
Last Updated:
The Okta Community profile is a central place to introduce yourself to peers and fellow Okta customers, establish authenticity, showcase subject matter expertise, and grow a professional network. The profile also tracks the latest activity and displays earned badges.
How to Update Your Profile Information
Sign in to the Okta Community, navigate to the profile dropdown, and update both private and public fields — including About Me and Nickname — then save changes to complete the profile update.
- Sign in to the Community homepage and navigate to the dropdown menu featuring your initials.
- Select Profile, then click Edit to open settings.
- Update the private fields: First and Last Name, Email, Company Name, and Title. NOTE: These fields are private.
- Fill out the public fields, including About Me (share anything from expertise to favorite hobbies) and Nickname. The nickname accompanies contributions throughout the community such as posts, replies, and likes. Learn more about how nicknames work in the Okta Community.
- Click Save.
NOTE: Changes to the Okta Community profile are limited to the community and do not change the Okta admin dashboard profile.
Updating Your Okta Community Avatar
The avatar accompanies the nickname throughout the community and helps other members identify contributors. Upload a JPG, GIF, or PNG file no larger than 16 MB using the steps below.
- Click the camera icon to the right of the avatar.
- In the pop-up window, upload an image. Accepted formats are JPG, GIF, or PNG, with a maximum file size of 16 MB.
- Click Save.
NOTE: Professional headshots are welcome but not required. A work-appropriate photo, custom avatar, favorite pastime, or similar image is acceptable.
What to Do After Updating the Profile?
After updating the profile and avatar, visit the community forum or discussion groups to begin engaging with peers, or navigate to blogs to like and comment. The more posts, replies, and likes contributed throughout the community, the more likely a new badge is to be earned — and new badges appear directly in the profile.
