When assigning an app to an individual on an app that is not configured for provisioning, the username does not reflect the user's latest username.

Changing the Application username format to user.email or user.login attributes will ensure that the app is using the latest username or email data.

Login to the Okta Admin Dashboard and navigate to Applications > Applications.

Select the app where the configuration change will be made.

Click on the Sign On tab and then the Edit button by the Settings header.

In the Credentials Details section, change the Application username format to Custom, and then, in the box below that, enter user.email or user.login, depending on the attribute desired.

Click Save.
