Vaibhavm.99934 (Customer) asked a question.

What is ratelimit for system logs (/api/v1/logs)?

I currently have access to a free trial instance, in which the observed rate limit for (/api/v1/logs) is 120 RPM. Could you please confirm whether this rate limit is standardized across all tiers, or if it varies by tier type or configuration? If it does vary, I would appreciate it if you could share the corresponding rate limits for the different tiers?

Hi @Vaibhavm.99934 (Customer) , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community!

Rate Limits are standardized across all orgs.

While there are add-ons and processes to increase these limits, they are not available for free trial/dev/integrator accounts.

      Hi Mihai,

Thank you for sharing the documents. However, I couldn't find any information about the tier-wise rate limits for the system endpoint in the document you mentioned. Do you have any details on this?

Hi @Vaibhavm.99934 (Customer) I think my misunderstanding of your question stems from your use of the term "tiers".

In the case of rate limits, there is no explicit tier. When created, all orgs (regardless if paid or free) have the same default RPM.

In the case of paid orgs (tenants), there are options for increased rate limits depending on the org type or number of licenses as mentioned in this article.

For example, "Customer Identity" type orgs have the option of purchasing the "DynamicScale" add-on which would allow applying a multiplier to the default rate limits, this being applicable to only certain endpoints, not all.

In the case of "Workforce Identity" type orgs, you could get an automatic rate limit increases as a multiplier based on the number of licenses purchased (this would be the closest to the tier system you mentioned), again, not for all end points.

The specific numbers are listed in your Okta Admin Dashboard, under Reports > Rate Limits.

As far as I can tell, "api/v1/logs" is not eligible for these multipliers. This would mean that the only way to increase that limit is to request a manual rate limit increase, which may or may not incur additional costs depending on your needs and this type of request is not available for free orgs.

        Regards.
