We have a user situation. The user shows they logged into the hub in september and everything is ok in the hub. But the user also shows they tried to log into the spoke yesterday and got a " User not Found" error. It seems the hub account has is no longer in sync with the spoke. Any idea what the root cause of this situation might be?

This type of error could also be linked to a miss match of username/username transformation From Hub to Spoke. I would recommend to review the System logs and see what could cause the issue as it would be tracked there if there are any issues with user matching or anything else.

Check to see if the API, used to connect the 2 orgs, has expired. If you don't see it, you may have to recreate it.
Its probably a user synchronization issue between hub and spoke. check the system log or tasks page on the hub to see if any provisioning errors are occuring. once resolved and syncing goes through the user error should be resolved
