SebastianR.06729 (Customer) asked a question.

Can registrationActivationToken be used as an OTP in the Sign-In Widget for Classic Engine?

I’m working with Okta Classic Engine and exploring whether the registrationActivationToken variable in the Registration - Activation email template can be used similarly to an OTP code.

Specifically, I’d like to know:

Can this token be treated as a one-time verification code that a user manually enters into the Okta Sign-In Widget during account activation?

Is it possible to replicate the behavior of the oneTimePassword variable available in Okta Identity Engine (OIE) for user registration?

So far, the registrationActivationToken seems to behave more like a backend token used in activation links, rather than a user-facing code. Just hoping to confirm if this token can be used for manual verification input or not.

  • Hi @SebastianR.06729 (Customer) , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community!

Leveraging the registrationActivationToken for this is not supported.

My advice would be to reach out via devforum.okta.com to discuss possible POC options for what you are trying to achieve, but design and implementation would fall under Professional Services purview.
