AbhijitD.07337 (Customer) asked a question.

Does Okta ASA agent installed on servers prevent access to local accounts on the server

Hello Team!

I have a quick question regarding Okta ASA and local accounts. Does Okta ASA Agent installed on a server prevent access to local accounts created on the server prior to the agent installation? If yes then is there a document I can refer to and what is the exact behavior of the accounts created prior to ASA agent installation and accounts created post agent installation.

From what I can see, Okta ASA agent is installed on a Linux server and I can still use my local account created prior to agent installation (that does not exist in Okta) to login to the server using password. Agent is not blocking the access.

Do we need to make any specific config change to prevent local account access so that only Okta authenticated users can access through ASA dashboard?

Is there a way to disable or invalidate the local user account access if they still retain access post ASA agent installation?

Thanks!

Abhijit

Hello @AbhijitD.07337 (Customer) , thank you for contacting Okta Community!

This issue seems too complex to be addressed here. I recommend that you open a Support ticket (Customer Support Account ID number required) so one of our engineers can analyze it and provide in-depth troubleshooting. You could also provide more details in a ticket that shouldn’t be given here, as this is a public space.

Please note that opening a support ticket is a feature available only to paid accounts. If you do not have a paid account, but are interested in upgrading, you can contact our Sales team

    Regards.
