Roadmap to start learning Okta

Hey Okta folks,

So, I'm trying to dive into the world of Okta and want to get started with their free learning stuff.

Anyone got a good idea of how I should tackle these courses? Like, what should I learn first and what comes next? I'm a total newbie to all this identity and access stuff with Okta.

Any tips on which free courses are the most important to start with and what order makes the most sense?

Cheers for the help!

Hi @LucasD.34646 (Customer) , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community!

You can start with learning.okta.com , on the main page, Administration.

Go through all those, then back on the main page, go to "View the Catalog" and on the left side (you might need to scroll down) "Product: Okta Platform" - from there you can temporarily skip over "Access Gateway",

    "API Access Management",

    "Identity Governance",

    "Okta Privileged Access"

    and "Workflows"

as they might not be part of you default Okta package unless your organization has explicitly purchased them for specific needs.

Then back to the catalogue, to "Build your Skills" where you can go through most of those, again skipping "Auth0" and "Workflows" until/unless the need arises.

Once you've gotten a good feel for those basics, you can come back to the skipped parts to at least get a feel for what they do and to see if it something you might need.

During the courses, don't forget to leverage support.okta.com and help.okta.com to search for docs/guides that would cover prerequisites and additional guides/how to...

Don't forget that Okta is a vast product and you can't master it in a day, month, year... so focus on mastering the day to day operations your organization requires.

When questions arise that you can't find answers to, don't hesitate to post here on the Okta Community and for in-depth troubleshooting reach out to our colleagues from the Support Team by opening a case

If my answer helped, remember to mark it as best to increase its visibility for other members of the Okta Community who might have the same questions as you.

    Hope my answer helps!
