Use Okta Workflows to push the hire date for a created user to a Jira ticket due date field

Hello,

I am looking for a way to grab the hire date for a newly created user in okta and push that date to the due date field in a Jira ticket. Our HR first sets the start date/hire date for an onboarded user in our HRIS. The user creation comes from an automated workflow from our HRIS and pushes the details to Okta. Okta picks up the details and populates them to create the user and user details in okta.

My goal is to hopefully grab that start date/hire date and push it to our Jira and set the due date field in the onboarding ticket with it.

You have a couple options

Create a Web Hook - Here is an example https://youtu.be/yIkgIhOUdug
Create an Okta Workflow - You could leverage the Okta User Created event trigger card and the Jira Workflow connector. https://help.okta.com/wf/en-us/content/topics/workflows/connector-reference/jira/jira.htm If that connector does not do everything you want you could make a custom API calls. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UM3TucbTlTY https://help.okta.com/wf/en-us/content/topics/workflows/connector-reference/okta/events/usercreated.htm

I would use Option 2 myself as I like the easy control of the output data structure that Workflows allows when making the API calls to external services.
