KarenH.14672 (The Aspen Institute) asked a question.
Hello,
Does anyone use SurveyMonkey Apply https://apply.surveymonkey.com/ and have you set-up SAML? Have tried a lot of variations to try to configure it but I keep receiving an error when trying to save the SAML configuration. The Apply service has no clear instructions on how to configure as they claim there are too many IdPs out there to respond to all types of configurations.
Note: SurveyMonkey Apply is a different product from SurveyMonkey forms, surveys, etc. So I don't need assistance with the forms/survey tool.
Any ideas / assistance would be great.

Hi @KarenH.14672 (The Aspen Institute) , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community!
I haven't set up the app myself so I'll leave the question open for the Community to chime in.
In the meantime, I've tried to look for their documentation on the subject and found the following:
https://help.surveymonkey.com/en/apply/advanced/saml-details/
Based on that, you should be able to set up a Custom SAML app in Okta:
https://help.okta.com/en-us/content/topics/apps/apps_app_integration_wizard_saml.htm
>currently Okta does not support metadata upload, so might need to open the XML file from SM and get the URLs.
>another thing to look out for is the requirement for "email" to be in the payload (according to their docs), so event though we send out what ever you have set up as application username on the Okta side, you might also need to send the email value as an additional attribute statement: https://support.okta.com/help/s/article/How-to-define-and-configure-a-custom-SAML-attribute-statement?language=en_US
Beyond that, you will need access to their logs if the login fails and perhaps leverage something like SAML Tracer to review the assertion. https://developer.okta.com/docs/guides/saml-tracer/main/
The Okta system logs, will not help as the moment you click on the app tile in the Okta Dashboard and are redirected to the service provide, it registers as a "success" in our logs.
If my answer helped, remember to mark it as best to increase its visibility for other members of the Okta Community who might have the same questions as you.
Hope my answer helps!
