Is it possible to exclude a Group in User Inactivity Automation?

Hello,

We currently have an active automation with the condition = User inactivity in Okta which is applied to the 'Everyone' group.

I have a new use case to exclude a specific group of users, which has their own Group. I don't want this automation to apply to that new group. Is there are way to exclude Groups in automations and if not, is there a possible workaround for this?

What I meant is to not use the Everyone group, but instead to set up new dedicated groups that fit your requirements, as there is not option to set up exceptions.

In the meantime, you can suggest this as a Feature Enhancement on the Okta Community page by going to the Community Ideas tab. Features suggested in our community are reviewed and can be voted and commented on by other members. High popularity will increase the likelihood of it being picked up by the Product Team and it being implemented.

    More details here.

    Regards.

Hi @User17132120911786169546 (Customer) , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community!

Workflows would be outside of my area of expertise, but if you are referring to the Okta Automations feature under Okta Admin Dashboard Workflow Automations , you can create new groups and populate them with the required users by leveraging the Group Rules feature.

From there you can set up new Automations as required.

If my answer helped, remember to mark it as best to increase its visibility for other members of the Okta Community who might have the same questions as you.

    Hope my answer helps!

  • Thanks @Mihai N. (Okta, Inc.) for your reply.

I already have a group created for this set of users. The issue is we want the "User inactivity in Okta" automation to apply to Everyone, EXCEPT the new group. I don't see an option to exclude Users/Groups from automations so wanted to confirm if this is a system limitation and if so, any possible workarounds this.
