AnnaS.21029 (Customer) asked a question.

Exporting custom attributes with the Rockstar add-in

On 14/12/2023, I discovered my colleagues and I could no longer export custom attributes when using the Rockstar add-in:

/help/servlet/rtaImage?refid=0EM4z000007IZ6D

I have tried:

  • Using Edge and Chrome
  • Re-installing the Rockstar add-in in both browsers
  • Resetting both Edge and Chrome to default and wiping cache/cookies/temp data.

My colleagues and I are a custom admin with the roles "mobile administrator", "report administrator", "group administrator" and then a custom role which enables us within the user section "edit users' application assignments", "view application and their details" and within the application section "edit application user's assignments". We have access to all users, all applications and all groups. Our permissions did not change on or around the date we found we could no longer export custom attributes through Rockstar.

Our SMEs are super admins, and they can still use Rockstar to export custom attributes.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue, and if so, have you found a workaround or resolution?

Hello @AnnaS.21029 (Customer) Thank you for reacting out to our Community!

We recommend to do the API call in Postman or a different tool that will bring the desired result. If this test shows all the information that you should see then this indicates a problem with RockStar, which is not an Okta product and we do not offer support for it.

If the result in Postman does not show the desired result, then we recommend to review the Admin Permissions, as this is where you are having the issue.

    Hi @AnnaS.21029 (Customer) ,

I was able to figure this out in our Okta CIAM tenant. This is how I did it:

    1. As a Super Administrator navigate to Directory > Profile Editor
    2. Click on the Profile that you want to retrieve Custom Attributes from
    3. In the Profile Editor click on Custom > select the desired Custom Attribute > edit icon
    4. Make note of the Display name and Data type values
    5. Go back to profiles
    6. Select the User (default) profile
    7. In the Profile Editor click on Custom > + Add Attribute > enter the Data type and Display name EXACTLY as it appears in the custom attribute you wish to export.
    8. Follow this guide to export users from the Rockstar UI: Export Okta Users Using Rockstar Based on Certain Attributes
    9. The Custom Attribute will now appear as selectable and as long as their is data populated in it, you will see it in your CSV export.
