7jv04 (7jv04) asked a question.

Okta/Zendesk integration using a service account for auto-provisioning

Hi Okta fam!

Current there is a admin's user account tied to the API token for the integration we have for Zendesk. Is there any reason this can't be a service account instead?

Best regards,

-Jacob

  • Hi @7jv04 (7jv04) , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community!

This question would be more appropriate for Zendesk as the Okta integration leverages their API for the Provisioning feature.

That being said, I assume it has something to do with the permissions required to take all the specific actions like create, update, import, etc.

I took a look at the Provisioning docs from our side, and it does not mention "admin" specifically, so as long as you can spin up a service account with all the necessary permissions, I don't see why could not use it on the Okta side.

If my answer helped, remember to mark it as best to increase its visibility for other members of the Okta Community who might have the same questions as you.

    Hope my answer helps!

Thanks Mihai! I'll dig in a bit more on the Zendesk side. So far it's looking like a service account for the integration will be just fine
