j1qmf (j1qmf) asked a question.

Single Log Out does not generate a SAMLRequest at the end of the URL?

Hi there, I am trying to implement Single Log Out in my web app. So far, Single Sign On works, and when I try to initiate that, I will get redirected to a link that has a SAMLRequest appended to the end of the URL (i.e: https://trial-3706531.okta.com/app/trial-3706531_oktasamlexample_1/asdfqnhm3VhLYjC7697/sso/saml?SAMLRequest=asdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfC0u1hYUuhLQvtRaI7Rbs645oR7NtXXQrdS08h%2BfMl%2BZMh9N0gd5Nt9Iu6TgqtM%2FedRrkJOZlGLQ1gi1JDr1DaWr7uno4ycJkcRmNNbTryB%2FmfAEQ12tZo4hz2OSkTBYGoK0aVCAUN0zSiID4jGpyrUMUJJNU5Ic5JjbgwOVlGLCDipA4aLWi7lFjAqc9oEL8xJpkvA%2B4yzj%2BIs1%2B8tBrWbTlprB1Qep4dW%2BgoFy).

But when I try to initiate a Single Log Out, I get redirected to a link that looks like this (https://trial-3706531.okta.com/app/trial-3706531_oktasamlexample_1/asdfqnhm3VhLYjC7697/slo/saml). I am running out of ideas to try and fix this... which brought me to this thought. Is Single Log Out not working because Okta is not sending a SAMLRequest at the end of SLO links? If that is the case, how can I make Okta send this?

Hi @j1qmf (j1qmf) , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community!

Please reference the following documentation for the SLO implementation:

    https://help.okta.com/en-us/content/topics/apps/apps_single_logout.htm

I specifically want to highlight the following:

-Okta supports this sign out process only when initiated by a Service Provider (SP). The SP sends the SLO request to Okta to end the Okta session.

-Not all app integrations support SLO. If the SP supports SLO in their downstream app, it's noted as a supported feature in their app configuration guide. Contact your SP directly to request that they add support for SLO.

If you've already confirmed the above, please check the SLO configuration as mentioned here to confirm that there isn't something that you missed or that is misconfigured.

If my answer helped, remember to mark it as best to increase its visibility for other members of the Okta Community who might have the same questions as you.

    Hope my answer helps!
