3v0ll (3v0ll) asked a question.
After configuring Tableau Server 2023 following the documentation from Okta and Tableau, we were unable to authenticate.
This process works fine with Tableau Server 2021.
But with the Tableau Server 2023 instance, following the exact same steps, the authetnication errors out stating, ""Unable to Sign In
User account not found.
For help, contact your Tableau Server administrator.
""
Mind we have Tableau 2021 configured the exact way as 2023 but 2023 is failing..
The instructions we are referring to are here...
https://saml-doc.okta.com/SAML_Docs/How-to-Configure-SAML-2.0-for-Tableau-Server.html
The instructions themselves seem a bit outdated, as they only refer to Tableau Server 2018
and it doesn't seem that the Service Provider has an updated nor dedicated Okta Idp process
https://help.tableau.com/current/server/en-us/config_saml.htm*saml-configuration-overview
wondering if anyone here has worked with integrating tableau server 2023 with okta
Thanks in advance.

Hey! No experience directly with Tableau Sever but couple things I will point out. Seems the error is that when authenticating, there is no user in Tableau. Do you have provisioning enabled for the app, or even better, is it supported? This is typically a question that their support can answer. Okta will always support SCIM provisioning, but the target app not always does. Next, have you reached out to their support to determine if there are any issues with logs or something similar? It may be worthwhile if you have confirmed that Okta is configured as required (to your knowledge). Totally possible that Tableau may require a specific SAML attribute or something for authentication to work. I see that username is listed, but perhaps the new version requires more? Possible, but best confirmed on their side.
I hope this helps! Any further info and we would be happy to help!
