SalesForce Integration With Okta (Available Options)

Hi, I am looking to integrate Salesforce with Okta. We are looking for SSO only for now. I have a question. Is there an option to setup few users to login to Salesforce using Okta SSO? We want to do proof of concept. So just want few users to test Salesforce with Okta first. Our test users will be okta sourced. Thanks

  • Not an Okta Sandbox, but Salesforce to keep that testing separate from your Production Salesforce. No, enabling SSO will not force all your users to use Okta. They can use it though Okta or outside of Okta unless changed from within Salesforce. This is a Salesforce setting and not an Okta setting.

  • Hello @lmdos (lmdos) Thank you for reacting out to our Community!

If this is a production Salesforce, we do not recommend to do a POC with it. We would recommend to to use a SandBox environment or use a Dev environment(which is free on Salesforce side) and you can configure the SSO and assign the required users to it.

Salesforce does not for all users to use SSO once it is enabled by default, only if you remove the Username and password options. In short, what you are looking to achieve can be done without a problem.

Hi Paul, Thanks for the instructions. At the moment we do not have Okta Sandbox environment. Do you think setting up okta with salesforce in production by following instructions in above document will force all users to use Okta to login to Salesforce? Or it will only be applicable to users/groups which we assign in Okta admin console? In other words, can all other users continue to login/use salesforce as needed outside Okta?
