EricN.60221 (Lucas County Coroners Office) asked a question.

Using OKTA SSO with Synology devices.

I am trying to integrate my Synology devices into our OKTA installation and am not having any luck. When I reached out to Synology the answer is to contact your provider to figure out what the field means and that should be there. Has anybody been able to figure this out and can give pointers on how to fill out the form with the required fields? The only other pointer was a set of OKTA developer docs about OpenID.

Hi @EricN.60221 (Lucas County Coroners Office)  , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community!

As it currently stands, the only supported integration that we have with Synology is an SWA one:

    https://www.okta.com/integrations/synology/

Beyond that, you could attempt using the Okta Application Integration Wizard to set up a custom OIDC app, but without the input from the Service Provider, you might be lacking configuration data:

    https://help.okta.com/en-us/Content/Topics/Apps/Apps_App_Integration_Wizard_OIDC.htm

We'll leave this question open, in case someone in the Community has set this up successfully.

If my answer helped, remember to mark it as best to increase its visibility for other members of the Okta Community who might have the same questions as you.

    Hope my answer helps!

Thanks. After going round and round with Synology it would appear that they can only do SSO with Azure and other Synology servers. All aspects of the setup work with the chain until it comes time to pass the authentication token back to the server. Then the server cannot figure out how to work with the result.

Good to know. Thanks for the update!

Then the only thing left to do is up to Synology, as the service provide to submit an SSO app to the Okta catalog via oinmanager.okta.com .
