Hi,
We have a feature that updates an existing group rule's condition expression. It seems like after updating the rule and re-activating it, it takes a while for the group rule to be processed (users to be assigned/removed from the group). Is there an estimate or expected ceiling on the amount of time it takes to process group rule changes?

How large is the rule set/ how many users might it be affecting? This could certainly have an impact on how long it takes to propagate throughout the environment. Would you be able to provide an estimate on how long it takes for you currently? Thanks!!
We are updating one group rule that uses an Okta expression in the format of
Arrays.contains({"foo", "bar", ... ,"baz"}, user.SomeAttribute)
and we have about 1m users that the rule could affect.
I'm not sure how long it takes now, I was hoping that your team might have some more insight on how long it might take.
Got it.. So I would say that in my experience (although we have a significantly smaller org) it takes no more than a couple minutes at most. I would expect processing time would take longer for group rules that affect thousands and thousands of users, but by how much I am unsure. I was unable to find any documentation that set expectations in terms of time.
@Mihai N. (Okta, Inc.) do you have any official insight on timelines for something like the above?
Regardless, I would expect that it would not take an unusually long time to take affect, and if it does, that is certainly grounds for a support case and investigation.

Hi @DonF.81354 (Customer) , we typically don't offer metrics pertaining to operations times and I would not hazard to set the wrong expectations.
You may be able to use third party tools to measure and if things seem off, you may be able to involve the Support team for an investigation but I would expect Engineering pushback until it's proven that the delay is not cause by external causes. *

Basically, no group rule processing metric is available.
On large user base (multiple thousands) with rather complex group rule condition, I've experiences the processing to take a few minutes. That might sometimes be confusing as we don't know if the processing is still in progress or not.
In such as circumstance and depending on how group rule processing is done, it might be helpful to get a group rule status by API.
I guess I should create an Okta Idea for this, but then it will get forgotten since this is so niche.
Is that "1m" as in 1 million? We have groups with a few thousand users and I've seen group rule updates take anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes to complete. I'd imagine yours would take significantly longer.
