We are wondering if it's possible to change the user profile for an Okta user from the "User (default)" option upon creation. We have external users that we want to import in via CSV, but we also want to switch them off of this profile. I understand this is tricky since some profile attributes may exist in one profile but not the other.
What are our options here? Would there be a way to create the CSV template for another profile type?

Hi Kyle Wiggins ,
Usually users imported from applications such as Active Directory, LDAP, Workday, or from a CSV file are assigned the default user type.
The possible way to change the user type upon creation is :
Thank you, Jijo. I've seen that option before but it's not what we're using in this case. We're to import/create thousands of users at once, so we want to go with the CSV import method. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like you can import as a different user type based on this known issues document - https://help.okta.com/en-us/Content/Topics/users-groups-profiles/usgp-user-types-known%20issues.htm
That's correct. It's not supported currently.
You can suggest a feature enhancement for the custom user type on the Okta Community page by going to the Community→ Ideas tab. Features suggested in our community are reviewed and can be voted and commented on by other members. High popularity will increase the likelihood of it being picked up by the Product Team and it being implemented.
