g5o5q (g5o5q) asked a question.

Can I manage the Single sign on URL from an external okta configuration?

Can I use the Single sign on URL only like: app/saml/SSO

and in a configuration part handle the ip? example:

ip= 10.244.130.81/app/

So that I am the one who administers the ip and not okta?

    Hi @g5o5q (g5o5q) , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community!

    I'm not sure I fully understood your use case, but if you are talking about SSO URL in the context in which Okta is the Identity Provider (IDP), and using a custom SAML app implementation as per the following documentation, then it all depends if you are the owner/developer of the app and the endpoint is able to consume the assertion.

    https://help.okta.com/en-us/Content/Topics/Apps/Apps_App_Integration_Wizard_SAML.htm

     I'm not aware of any restriction to the format other than the need to input "http://" or "https://".

    If you are not the owner/developer of the app, then you are required to use whatever SSO URL they provide for the implementation.

    If you are not talking about a custom implementation, typically, the apps listed in our catalogue have a hardcoded SSO URL already backed-in. Some may have variable URLs based on custom/dedicated domains, but again that's within the constrictions of their requirements.

    Depending on your use case, it might be useful to review the SAML tech overview docs. They might contain the relevant information you are looking for.

    Hope my answer helps!
