tb4yf (tb4yf) asked a question.

When I configure email authentication it does not appear as an option to authenticate

I add email as a authentication factor in settings, but when trying to authenticate, I only receive the SMS text option. If I remove the SMS text option, I get no option to authenticate, just an error. This is a problem as I am flying often, and you know SMS is not at option at 32,000 feet.

Hi @tb4yf (tb4yf) , Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community!

When discussing MFA authentication, we're dealing with two different policies: MFA Enrollment and Sign-on.

You might have to review the enrollment policy on you end to ensure that Email is set to "Optional" at least and you'll have to review the group assignment and policy Priority to confirm it applies to your account.

When that is configured, you should see a drop-down option like in the screenshot below.

    Select an authentication factor

If my answer helped, remember to mark it as best to increase its visibility for other members of the Okta Community who might have the same questions as you.

    Hope my answer helps!
