AndrewC.42049 (Customer) asked a question.

Is sub-addressing/plus-addressing possible for logging in?

Hi,

When people log into our app they typically use the `<user>@<domain>` format email address. However, we have a number of test and QA accounts that are setup with the email address format of `<user>+<something else>@<domain>`, which then get routed to the original user's email.

Is it possible to use that `<user>+<something else>@<domain>` when authenticating on Okta and have it automatically use the original `<user>@<domain>` details, what apps they are allow to log into, groups, etc.?

Thanks!

    Hi @AndrewC.42049 (Customer),

Thank you for posting on the Okta community page!

I have done some research regarding Okta tenant authentication, and unfortunately the functionality that you are looking for, it is not currently supported, therefore i would recommend to submit a feature request in case you would like to see such feature within Okta.

Once feature requests are submitted they are visible to other Okta admins, who can vote on them to provide more visibility. Using this method will allow you to maintain visibility on your feature requests throughout the process.

Additionally, you could configure the Okta username to no longer be in a email format and only have the format that you would like for example: test.example. To remove the email format restriction for the Okta Username, you will have to go to Directory >> Profile Editor and here access the "user" profile.  Once you are on the "user" profile you can click the icon in the username row, go to Format Restrictions and choose "None". This should allow you to format your usernames however you wish!

I hope the above information is useful!
