Okta AD Agent stopped sending new user accounts to Okta cloud instance

We just noticed that new AD accounts are not getting transferred to our Okta cloud instance. I have inspected the Okta AD connector, but I cannot find the logic where it knows which accounts to pull by inspecting whether they are members of a specific group in AD. No new accounts have been transferred for several weeks. How do I troubleshoot this?

    Hi @d04kv (d04kv),

Thank you for posting on the Okta community page!

I would firstly check if the users are being part of the OUs selected in Okta, then I would verify if the users in question have all the required attributes on their Active Directory profile to be able to be imported in Okta. By default, the required attributes for a user to be created in Okta are FirstName, LastName, Username and Email but this depends on your Okta configuration as other attributes might be set as required in the Okta User Profile.

Additionally, I would verify the Ignored option on the Import tab to make sure that the users do not appear there.

Another troubleshooting step that comes to my mind would be to verify the AD agent logs after an import has been completed to check for errors.

I hope the above information is useful!

Thank you very much for responding, Flaviu.

I opened a support case and they provided me with the same recommendation of checking the OU.

I discovered that the new user accounts had been imported from our AD into Okta, but I needed to scroll through the account list and confirm the individual accounts to be assigned to our Okta instance.

Okta -> Admin -> Directory -> Directory Integration. I reviewed the Import results, and checked the check box next to the accounts I wanted to import and then selected the Confirm Assignment action so the accounts would be added to our instance of Okta.

We are a relatively new Okta customer, so we are still learning!
