MatthewH.10249 (State of Iowa) asked a question.

Workflow - Text To Date card error "Canceled: oneshot canceled"/"Node Error"

Why would a Workflow "Text To Date" card return the error message "Canceled: oneshot canceled" with description of "Node Error" but when the same data is manually tested it works fine? This process has ran hundreds if not thousands of times and only had issues 6 time all on 5/20 with 3 of them at 11am and 11:15am CT.

Based on what I could discovered the "oneshot cancelled" is part of a generic return (error 500) that can occur when something unexpected (non-trapped condition) happened. Considering the errors in question only ever happened on one day, and most happened in a small time window there was likely some sort of transient backend issue that was identified and corrected likely by an automated method since I am not seeing any major backend issues reported on that day around that time.

Thanks for your input! Can you provide link(s) to documentation you looked at in your discovery?

I wonder if it might have to do with Workflow servers restarting. We also had a few "Invalid or missing invariant lhs value" errors in other Workflows recently that seem to be attributed to Workflow server restarts.

Unfortunately, no, I cannot share any links. Everything I looked at was internal to Okta.

You are likely correct. In my experience with elastic computing there are health checks that occur and when EC2 units are found to be "Stale" they get cycled down and a new healthy instance is cycled online to replace it. I suspect something along those lines occurred otherwise we would have had a large support ticket increase on that day which didn't occur.

They are likely unrelated. That specific error "lhs value" is something being actively worked on by development and a couple fixes that are outside of what the document indicates should be deployed in the coming weeks.
