x0ijz (x0ijz) asked a question.

Optional MFA?

It feels stupid to ask but couldn't find the solutions from elsewhere.

How to enable MFA to user as an optional so that MFA is used (second factor asked when login) if user has set it up on his/hers profile.

In other words we don't want to force user to use MFA but it should be possible if users wants to.

    Hi Harri Ahokas,

You can make MFA factor as optional through the following steps:

    1.     In the Admin Console, go to Security > Multifactor > Factor Types

    2.     Ensure the factor type of your choice is in Active mode.

    3.     Create a new policy by navigating to Factor Enrollment > Add Multifactor Policy.

    4.     Set the factor enrolment type as Optional

Thanks. The problem is where to find that Factor Enrollment. I also found in documents that there should be MFA policies somewhere but can't find it from UI. Security > Multifactor > Factor Types look like this:

    Hi Harri Ahokas ,

You must be able to see Factor Enrolment option next to Factor Type under the Multifactor tab.

Kindly raise a support ticket with Okta to get this option enabled in your tenant.
