Unable to setup Gmail on Smartphone

Hello

We've got a user that is unable to set up a Gmail account on a couple of smartphones that he has attempted to do so. It brings up an "Invalid user credentials" error when he tries to log in to the OKTA page. Strangely, he can log in using a browser but it's just phones that are not working. Please see the screenshot below for the error we see under his account. Notice all the successful attempts except for the one on his phone. We've tried on both iPhone and Android platforms with the same outcome.

Please help. Any suggestions would be most highly appreciated.

Thanks and regards,

Diem

  • Ionut here with Okta's Customer Support Team, thank you for reaching out to us.

    • If by any chance, you are using factor sequencing, as per our documentation, this feature is supported on Okta Mobile only if password is set as the first factor.

Besides this, we recommend resetting the password for the affected user to check if this resolves the issue.

    https://help.okta.com/en/prod/Content/Topics/Security/mfa-factor-sequencing.htm

If this doesn't resolve the issue, we recommend opening a support ticket in order to further investigate this.
