Hello,
We have a new client that is wanting to get set up with SSO, and they want to do it a little differently than our other clients. They want to pass their users email address to our Okta site but our login page uses a username and not the email address being provided to login normally, when they try using sso it just loads our page until they fill in their username and push Next then it validates that they are authenticated through their Okta portal and lets them in. Is there a way to have my Okta portal "look up" their email address (have not found any duplicated uses) and find the username for my page and allow them through automatically? I've tried searching for articles related to this but nothing I found seemed quite right.

Could you create a custom user name format via the expression editor that removes the @domain.com from the username field so it passes first.last instead of first.last@domain.com?
I apologize, I reread my initial question and part of it was unclear. They are not new to using our system, they are new to using SSO with our system. They all have existing users in our system already that follow a different format first initial full last name location code so their login would be like jsmith123, if there's already one in that format it moves onto first two letters of first and so on until it hits a unique value
