Hi I am a client using Okta, when I try to use TouchID within safari, but it doesn't prompt to touchId but Yubi Key. This feature worked on chrome perfectly with my colleague , can you verify why it doesn't work on safari?
BTW, Image uploading in this help centre is failing, can you invest this too?
Thanks

Dear Johnny
Thanks for sharing your issue with the Community 😉
Based on your needs, I would recommend you to open case if you suspect that something is not working as expected.

Regarding your problem uploading an image into Help Center, I just did it few minutes ago with no problem. You can check it (https://support.okta.com/help/s/question/0D51Y00009pbucbSAA/sms-authentication).
Best regards.

It worked now , maybe a bug before. Thanks 👍
Additionally, you can check Release Notes section to see if something has been recently changed.

Hi Johnny,
Which version of Safari are you running? All of the currently released versions of Safari don't support WebAuthn, which is the protocol used to make TouchID an Authentication factor. However, Safari 14, which is currently in beta, is slated to include WebAuthn support (see: https://techcrunch.com/2020/06/25/apple-is-bringing-face-id-and-touch-id-to-the-web-with-safari-14/). Whenever Safari 14 is released, you should be able to update to it and enjoy using Safari to access Okta with TouchID.
Hope this helps!
Thanks!
Tim
Okta, Inc.
Thanks for replay Tim!
I used Safari 13 and tried with Safari 14 beta (Version 14.0.1 (15610.2.11.1.3, 15610)), Neither worked 😔 I hope it will work on Safari Released version! 🙂
Tim,
Safari 14 for Mojave, Catalina was released on September 16 2020. It is also included in macOS Big Sur. It includes support for WebAuthn.

When will Okta fix this issue?
I can also confirm that Safari 14.0.1 does not give the option to use TouchID, it just offers using a security key as @xwe64 (xwe64) 's screenshot shows above.

This *STILL* doesn't work on Safari (Version 14.0.2 (15610.3.7.1.10, 15610))
Mac OS Catalina - version 10.15.7
January 8 2020 - still not working. Please note, Safari has supported WebAuthN for sometime now, so we're just waiting for Okta to implement. https://webkit.org/blog/11312/meet-face-id-and-touch-id-for-the-web/
