I did a bit of searching but did not come across a clean answer. Is it possible to leverage SendGrid to send Okta notification emails using an API key? I came across this link, but it has no description and appears to be more tied to SSO rather than routing email notifications.

Thanks for you question. I was checking this app and how it get integrated with Okta.
Looks that this app only supports Secure Web Authentication access.
Any other app that support other capabilities, your request could be possible, but for this specific one, by the moment is not supported.

I think you might have misunderstood my question. I am not talking of using Okta as an authentication provider for SendGrid accounts. I am talking about using SendGrid as our email relay for Okta generated emails like activation and password resets instead of Okta sending them through its own email delivery system.

Thanks for the update.
I mentioned the authentication capability because is the only one that this app allow us, so it is very limited.
The feature that you are asking could be possible in other apps that allow us Provisioning Capabilities, but for this specific app is not available this feature.
The only option that I could think for your request, could be use the Okta Event Hooks.

This option will let you use the SP API to send data to the SP when an event is trigger in Okta (IdP).
Note: But the SP will need to support this Rest/JSON request...
