App to display password when launching is unavailable

We are looking to set up applications within Okta to display a password but not launch anything. Our main use for this would be to provide users the passwords for accounts that launch from an application thus making it impossible to link them to Okta

I'm not sure I get it. Are you saying that you want Okta to be just a password-display tool, and that a user would have to copy-paste that displayed password into a sign-in form in another browser or app window, along with their username, to access the app for which these are the credentials?

You can, of course, configure Okta to show users passwords for some cases, though these are for SSO-linked apps.

If you're thinking that this will somehow make it impossible to link that password to its app I don't see how that would work: there will have to be something on the dashboard chiclet they click to identify which app it's for. Or do you just mean there will be nothing configured in a SAML (or whatever protocol is used) session to indicate the link from Okta to the app?

We have apps linked to launch through Okta but some of the logins we use have their own Desktop App so we are trying to for these just display a password since Okta is unable to launch none browser based applications

    Thank you

What manages authentication to those apps today, AD? There might be options to make this work depending on what the apps are, maybe with OAG; if there's an Okta sales engineer you've worked with in the past you might want to ask them.
