o597q (o597q) asked a question.

I want to give "View Logs" permission to our Okta Help Desk Adminstrators.

On a user info page ( Directory>People>"user" ) as an super admin i have a "View Logs" link that shows the latest user actions (User login to Okta, Sign in Failed, etc).

This is useful information for the Help Desk team, but they have no access to this link.

Is there a way to provide it ?

Thanks,

Peter

I don't think there's a way to customize the permissions of the existing Admin roles, though I've heard many customers have asked for this and I know it's something our product managers are considering (with no firm plans yet).

I would suggest that you might consider giving those Help Desk admins the Report Admin role as well, because it contains only two admin permissions and no others: View System Log (which you want) and Run Reports (which isn't needed but might not hurt so long as they don't bog the system down by running huge reports all the time).

Assuming that your Help Desk team already holds the Help Desk Admin role, which allows them to view users, then Tim's suggestion of adding the Report Admin role should add that View Logs link to the user profile page (or it should). Alternatively, since the Report Admin role would give them access to the System log, they could just query the log for user-specific events, and the results would be very similar to those returned by clicking the View Logs link, just by entering a user's name into the Search field.
