Apple Watch not synching Okta Verify with iPhone

New Apple Watch 5 (6.0.1) shows the Okta Verify app, but when I open the app on the watch it gives me "No Accounts - To get started, open Okta Verify on your phone and add an account". Okta Verify has three accounts on my iPhone 11 (13.3.1) but they are not showing up on the watch. Ideas anyone?

  • Thank you for reaching out to Okta Support , my name is Robert

Here is what you can try in order to solve this issue :

    • unenroll
    • uninstall Okta Verify
    • reinstall Okta Verify
    • enroll with Okta Verify

If this doesn't work, please also try the following :

First, log in to Okta on your computer. After you’re logged in, go to your name on the top-right, select Settings, and then scroll down to the Extra Verification section, select Reset next to Okta Verify Mobile App. Select Yes to revoke the old token. After that, you'll need to enter your password.

After performing those steps, if there is still an issue, please open a support ticket in order to investigate further.

I have the same issue and tried the suggestions. The suggestions are not relevant as I don't see the Okta Verify Mobile App in my okta login page under Extra Verification and my iwatch says no accounts and asking me to add an account.

I have same issue Iphone X IOS14. To fix watch battery issue, I wiped both watch and phone and restored from backup. That went fine but not I cannot see any okta account on my apple watch. Tried uninstalling both, and setup again. phone is fine, watch deletes and adds the app but no account under okta verify. Tried again today still refuses to see okta verify account that is setup on iphone.

Exact same issue. I had problems installing ios 14, so I reset my phone and restored from backup. Then I had to uninstall Okta verify from my phone and reinstall it, but my watch won't sync. It's a bummer because I loved approving my login at work on my watch.

I have the same issue. It was working fine on my Apple Watch series 4. Just bought Serie 6 and then it says "No Accounts…". I tried to uninstall both the account and the app and setup new account but it's not working. I have checked that I have the latest software version both on my watch an IPhone 11 Pro.

Looks like OKTA does not have a support system to help us out. It is very important I am able to verify the logic on my iwatch.

FWIW - We're seeing the same thing widespread across our company. We've had reports that the full reset/restore doesnt even help. This sounds like a genuine bug that's only going to get worse as people move to the latest release.

My issue seems to have resolved itself. I wish I could say I knew exact steps - I know that, at a minimum, I deleted the Okta app from my watch and re-set up Okta push in the extra-verification settings. The next time I got a push, the app was re-installed on my watch and the push confirmations started working again.

      • Thank you Chris! - I did this exact process. #1 - Went to Watch App on iPhone and scrolled down to Okta and removed from watch. #2 - Logged into my Okta account / settings / Extra Verification and removed Okta Verify. #3 - Back on the phone, I opened Okta Verify and removed the account. #4 - Removed Okta Verify app entirely from my phone. #5 - Just for fun I rebooted my phone before initiating the Add process over again. #6 - Started from scratch by setting it up entirely again. Now I am prompted properly on my phone and my watch, meaning I can approve.

It is odd that with the newest updates created an issue. Hopefully this will help others too.

Out of curiosity, for those who are seeing this - did you do a restore from backup or set up as new on your watch lately? From the information I'm gathering from co-workers, that seems to be the common thing for those that are seeing this issue and may be the root cause.
